¡Bienvenidos a la sociedad española!

Fewer General Meetings

Posted by: spansoc on: October 27, 2006

There will NOT be weekly general meetings starting this Monday. We found that it is inefficient for everyone to come out and try to plan events. So instead, we will keep everyone updated via email (like we are doing now!) and will plan general meetings when needed. However, we will be holding conversation classes instead of meetings.

If you are interested in helping run the Spanish Society, we will have weekly executive meetings. Please email us if you are interested in holding a position in the Spanish Society.

Welcome back the Spanish Club!

Posted by: spansoc on: October 18, 2006

Well a few of us have taken on the task of getting the Spanish Club back on its feet for the FALL 2006 Term! This is very exciting for us because in a way we get to start fresh and also have the opportunity to continue the great events that the Club has done in the past and get people involved in the events that we are planning as a representative of the Spanish department at UW.

So! We are starting out small by having:

1) Weekly Spanish Club meetings!
Monday afternoons @ 4:30pm in the Spanish Lounge (ML 245B).

Please try and come out for a half hour or so if you are interested in taking part in the Spanish Club in any way. This includes being a member and participating in our events, or by helping to run the Spanish Club (because we do need help!)

2) Latin dancing lessons!
Every Wednesday @ 8PM, at the Turret, Laurier’s Spanish Club, ‘LASALAS,’ hosts Latin dancing lessons.

They are A LOT of fun and bring out a good crowd so we have decided to join them! They are open for all to come and cost only $13 for 5 lessons (cheaper if you bring a partner). So if you are interested in salsa or merengue come along with us if you are free on Wednesday nights! Everyone is welcome! Bring friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, roommates!

These are the events that will be held weekly, there are more events to come that are still in the works. If you are interested in participating in running the Spanish Club please get back to us, it is open for all levels of the Spanish language!

Mil gracias,
the Spanish Club
